The Cabin in the Woods by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard | #4
Hello and welcome again to Screenplay Book Club!
This week, Hunter and Matt try to develop a Marvelesque children's book universe and then we discuss the screenplay to The Cabin in the Woods written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard. If you don't feel like doing your homework, you'll lose one letter grade on your report card, but you can rent it over on Amazon.
Things to Consider:
- How do character archetypes play a specific role in this script?
- Do you believe that the film successfully satires the horror genre? What are some tropes you’d like to see/missed in this script?
- Did you find the ending satisfying? Do our heroes need to accomplish a goal for the movie to have been worth watching?
- In what ways is the movie a commentary on the film industry as a whole, if at all?
Next week's screenplay: (500) Days of Summer by Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber
