Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn | #8
This is Screenplay Book Club, and here we talk about screenplays in a book club format.
This week, Hunter forgets to clap and we both walk on eggshells as we discuss Gillian Flynn's final draft for Gone Girl.
Hunter brings up The Anatomy of Story by John Truby quite a bit, so if you're a writer, this is a recommended purchase!
Things to Consider:
- Gender roles are discussed throughout the film. What does the script have to say about men? Women?
- How does Flynn make us root for Nick throughout his unlikeability?
- In what ways is the reveal of Amy being alive foreshadowed? Could a reader infer this by themselves or does it come out of left field?
Next week's screenplay: The Followingby Christopher Nolan
